Dr. Daniel Bert Kellner is appointed Asst. Dean of the Foundational Curriculum. He is also now a faculty member in our Pharmacology Dept. Congratulations!

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Daniel “Bert” Kellner as Assistant Dean of the Foundational Curriculum, effective July 1, 2026. In this role, Dr. Kellner will provide leadership for the MD program Phase 1 curriculum and work closely with course directors and unit leaders to ensure a rigorous, integrated, and innovative educational experience for our medical students. Since joining the Weill Cornell Medicine faculty, Dr. Kellner has had a transformative impact on pharmacology education, leading substantial enhancements in curriculum design, integration, and learner engagement. His contributions have strengthened foundational science instruction across the curriculum and earned widespread recognition from students and faculty alike.

 Dr. Kellner is a board-certified anesthesiologist and a graduate of Weill Cornell Medicine (MD Class of 2017), where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, graduating with distinction in education. He has most recently served as Pharmacology Discipline Leader for the foundational curriculum and co-leader of the Pharmacology Unit in Essential Principles of Medicine A and will continue in these roles.  

Dr. Kellner is an award-winning educator, having received the Joseph M. Garfield Medical Student Teacher of the Year Award at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as Weill Cornell Medicine’s First Year Teaching Award and Excellence in Medical Education Awards. Before pursuing medicine, he spent nearly a decade as a public-school teacher and assistant principal in Brooklyn and holds master’s degrees in Teaching and Education Leadership. We also want to acknowledge the leadership of Dr. Domenick Falcone, who is retiring from the role at the end of this academic year.
