Dr. Juliana Xu, who received her PhD with Dr. Gudas in 2004, stopped by the lab for a quick visit on June 29th with her son, Winston. Juliana works for Bayer in Beijing, China. She is in charge of international research collaborations for Bayer!

Dr. Shira Yomtoubian is now a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Shaw's lab at the Salk Institute. She came back to Weill Cornell for a brief visit while she was learning a technique for her project at Cold Spring Harbor.

Dr. Sindy Escobar Alvarez is the new Program Director for Medical Research at The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. She is a graduate of our Pharmacology Department, through which she is trained at the Sloan Kettering Institute of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To read more, click here.

Dr. Ann Gregus is now an assistant professor in the Neuroscience Program at Virginia Tech. She received her PhD from our Pharmacology Program in 2008, and her mentor was Dr. Chuck Inturrisi. She also was just awarded her first R01 grant from NIH.

Dr. Lisa Placanica, a former student from Dr. Yueming Li's lab, has been appointed Senior Managing Director with the Center for Technology Licensing at Cornell University. Dr. Placanica will direct WCM’s Center for Technology Licensing office and the institution’s technology licensing efforts.

Iva Dincheva, Pharmacology PhD '14, a former PhD student in Dr. Francis Lee's lab,is a full-time technical specialist in the intellectual property department at WilmerHale. This fall, she will begin Fordham Law School to become an intellectual property lawyer.
Matthew Sung, Pharmacology PhD '14, a former PhD student in Dr. Giannankakou's lab,is a principal scientist in oncology R&D at Pfizer.

Lorraine Gudas connected with Sara DiNapoli, Julia Silveira, & Emily Mercer at a holiday party! Emily (Ph.D. awarded last year in Pharmacology) is now working at the healthcare company IQVIA in NYC.
July 2017: Dr. Barry Kappel, a PhD graduate in our Pharmacology Program, started his own company, Sapience Therapeutics, in October, 2015 (Nature 245:58; 18, May 2017).
December, 2016: Dr. Noel Chan and Matt traveled to Iceland and had a great time.
May 13, 2016: Dr. Jian Shen, who received his PhD in 1999, came back for a visit with his thesis adviser, Dr. Gudas, on May 11, 2016. He gave a talk in the Surgery Dept. at Weill Cornell as well.
March 14, 2016: Dr. Denise Minton, who received her PhD in the lab of Dr. Lorraine Gudas and is now a postdoctoral fellow at NYU, is featured by the Meyer Cancer Center.
